Plywood Cage

Please follow these easy steps to constructing your reptiles new home.

You will need a #2 screwdriver (although if you have a drill and #2 driver it will not take quite as long). On cages longer than 4 feet we do recommend that you have a second person there to help you hold pieces into place as you assemble.

Your parts are numbered and labeled outside meaning that those pieces need to face outward as you go. The opposite sides will make up the interior. Here are the numbers as they appear on your cage parts.

1 – This is the BACK of your cage

2 – This is the LEFT SIDE of your cage

3 – This is the RIGHT SIDE of your cage

4 – This is the TOP of your cage

5 – This is the BOTTOM or FLOOR of your cage

6 – This is the FACE or FRONT of your cage

Start by laying the 1 – BACK of the cage flat with the sticker marked outside down. Make sure you are on a large flat surface that is level. Now place the part marked 2 – LEFT SIDE of the cage on the left side of your back again making sure the the sticker faces outward (vent holes on sides and back will line up in a straight line). The sticker states which way goes towards the front of the cage. This edge will be pointing straight up into the air. Now insert the screws through the side and into the back.
Repeat This step using the piece marked 3 – RIGHT SIDE on the opposite end of the back. Again make sure that the sticker faces out and the arrow points towards the front of the cage. (The back fits into the top, bottom and sides adding strength.)

Now carefully lean the whole thing forward so that the open end is in front of you. (Please note, it is very important that you make sure your ventilation holes are upward when your assembling) Once this is complete place the part marked 4 – TOP of the cage onto your sides and back making sure all the edges are flush. The sticker will be on top reading 4 – TOP outside. Now insert your screws starting on the outside edges and moving your way into the middle. Tighten all screws until they come to a firm stop.

At this point it should start taking the shape of a rectangular box. Next, using a second person if needed, flip the cage over so that the piece you just attached is on the bottom. Now place the part marked 5 – BOTTOM outside and repeat the step above. Making sure all edges are flush as you run your screws into place.

The last and most satisfying step is attaching the part marked 6 – FACE or FRONT. Notice that all the doors and latches are already attached. Starting with the four corners, install screws into each corner starting with the top two. (make sure the all the edges are flush before you attach) As you have probably already noticed, the hinges face towards the bottom and the latches face towards the top. Again starting at the edges and working your way inward insert screws into all of the remaining pre drilled holes and firmly tighten. This is the final step and upon completion your cage will be fully assembled. Please do not worry if you have extra screws. We know how aggravating it is when you are short a piece or a screw so we send extras.
